Most home burglaries happen after dark when it is evident that there
isn't anyone home. It makes perfect sense for a burglar to feel much
safer and more confident about robbing a home when they're cloaked by

Remember that haunting scene in the movie "The Ballad of the Green
Berets" where US troops look through their night-vision equipment and
see hundreds of Viet Cong stealthily approaching their base under cover
of night? The camera view that the audience sees was probably faked:
movie cameras were not capable of night-vision back then. But today
night-vision technology has developed to the point where it is now
possible to see a person standing 200 yards away on a moonless night.
