Security has been become one of the most important issues in today's
world with the increase in the number of threats as well as terrorist
attacks. Getting a picture or a video is the only evidence that is
accepted by law.
So looking at the present scenario, many high quality spy cams are available in the market which are capable of taking pictures or shot videos at very high resolutions as well as in conditions of low intensity of light. The video recording system comes either in built or simply the spy cam is connected to VHS system which records all the media required. A recording media should provide a high quality recording media system as otherwise a grainy picture is obtained which is unclear so it is difficult to make out from the video of what ever was monitored. Testing the quality of a recording device is an easy job. First use the camera device to monitor the activities of a specific place with lower light intensity as on higher light intensities the quality of a camera cannot be determined. Then the whole recording should be stored over a CD or a DVD and the same should be played over a Television or a Computer. The occurrence of a grainy sort of picture or video shows the degraded quality of the recording device or the camera.
The recording media that is used with the spy cams is of two types Analog and Digital. The system can be thought of some what like the digital video recorders that were used traditionally to record directly from the television. The DVR system provides digital recording system and provides way better quality than that of analog. The different recording systems available in the market are the Time - Lapse VCR based system, PC based DVR system and stand alone DVR system. If anyone needs to go for an upgrade of the recording media, only the change of recording media is essential as the old cabling can do the same work with good efficiency. Most of the recording systems consist of two parts where one is the recording device and second is the spy camera device. Recording device is used to store the pictures and video on a removable media where as the work of the spy camera is to provide that video or picture to the recording media. So the quality of both the devices matter.
The recording systems mentioned above provide the same work of recording the monitoring activities on a media but the difference lies on the type of media used as well as the quality of recording provided in terms of the frame rate as well as the resolution at which the pictures and videos are captured. When a low quality video is talked about, it is in terms of frame rate. Frame rate actually means the change of a frame with respect to time. So the more the frame rate, the better will be the quality of the device. The latest in technology are the DVR's that provide the best video recording system even in conditions when the light intensities are very low. All the latest DVR systems come in with a built in hard disk where all the media is recorded so frequent updating of data is not required. DVR systems have overcome the traditional VCR systems that did provide a lower frame rate and moreover the media was recorded over a video tape which lastly only 3 hours so after every 3 hours a new video tape was required to keep all the monitoring stored safely.
The only constraint for using a DVR is that it ends up being expensive initially so it's wise enough to connect the camera device to a PC based DVR system where all the media is recorded directly into the PC so as to reducing the amount of initial input required. Apart from all the devices that are mentioned above, Self contained spy cameras also come in the picture. These types of cameras are equipped with the recording media inside them. It depends upon the type of camera that is purchased as today many self contained spy cameras are available in the market that come with a built in hard disk or use DVD as the recording media.
